FEATURED AUTHOR at a PUBLIC SCHOOL BOOK FESTIVAL! — West Contra Costa Unified School Dist.
WHAT AN HONOR and so much FUN!
FEATURED AUTHOR at a PUBLIC SCHOOL BOOK FESTIVAL! — Riverside Elementary School (San Pablo, CA). WHAT AN HONOR and so much FUN!
I was recently invited to give author talks at a wonderful institution of learning in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the same school district where my brother and I were students from kindergarten to senior graduation! Our father, uncle, and several cousins attended the same schools, too!
Students, along with their parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunties, uncles, wonderful, dedicated teachers, and so many others celebrated books and community as part of the Book Festival! Students and I read my first board book, RUNNING WILD, on stage together, and everyone had a fun time, all about reading. The experience gave me hope for the future and the motivation, more than ever, to always keep dreaming, going, creating, sharing! May every student enjoy reading, writing, and creating in an atmosphere of support and care! Thank you, Riverside Elementary School and Mrs. Miller’s Class. Go, Roadrunners!
"WHO LIKES BOOKS?" Everybody raises their hands! Yay!
I enjoyed meeting all the students and book-lovers, and hearing about your care of animals and joy of reading, writing, and books! Keep up your fantastic, important work!

MY GINGERBREAD TORTOISE on display at THE MARINE LIFE CENTER!
Hey Bellingham Friends, A pleasant surprise when I went to pick up my gingerbread tortoise artist… an invitation to show at The Marine Life Center! Operated by The Port of Bellingham, this small interpretative aquarium provides fun, information, and inspiration for the whole family — all about local marine life with a touch tank, live fish, and beautiful view of Bellingham Bay. Sometimes they even have resident octopuses! All the living creatures are accidental “bycatch” from the fishing industry. What a great way to give them a new, safe home as wildlife ambassadors. I hope you can visit soon (before the humidity wrecks the gingerbread and royal icing) and often!!! What an honor it is to show my first-ever gingerbread contest entry. Free admission.
